When Spotify fails

Spotify has no public status page and posts incidents on the SpotifyStatus account on X. We check the web player at open.spotify.com; playback in the apps can fail separately.

If Spotify is not working for you

  1. Open spotify.com on another network, such as mobile data. If it works there, the problem is your connection, your DNS or your VPN.
  2. Update or restart the app, then sign out and back in.
  3. Look for posts about an outage: Spotify has no public status page; it posts incidents on the SpotifyStatus account on X.

Questions about Spotify outages.

Is Spotify down right now?

The status at the top of this page comes from Hyperping checks of Spotify, run every minute and refreshed on the page every 60 seconds. Green means the latest checks succeeded; red means they are failing, confirmed from several regions.

How do you check Spotify?

We send an HTTP request to open.spotify.com every minute, in turn from Virginia, Frankfurt and Singapore, and count a successful response as up. When a check fails, other regions check again before Spotify counts as down.

Spotify is up here but not working for me. Why?

An outage can be partial: one feature, one app, one country or one internet provider, and our checks see Spotify from data centers. Try another network such as mobile data, update or restart the app, and check the official status page for an incident on one feature.

Does Spotify have an official status page?

No. Spotify has no public status page; it posts incidents on the SpotifyStatus account on X. Our checks are a way to see whether Spotify answers right now.

Can I get alerted when Spotify goes down?

Yes. Create a free Hyperping account and add open.spotify.com as a monitor: you are alerted by email, Slack or your other channels within a minute of a failure. The free plan includes 20 monitors, enough for your own site and the services it depends on.
