The status at the top of this page comes from Hyperping checks of Perplexity, run every minute and refreshed on the page every 60 seconds. Green means the latest checks succeeded; red means they are failing, confirmed from several regions.

We send an HTTP request to api.perplexity.ai every minute, in turn from Virginia, Frankfurt and Singapore, and count a 401 response as up. When a check fails, other regions check again before Perplexity counts as down. perplexity.ai answers automated checks with a Cloudflare challenge, so this page measures the Perplexity API instead: a 401 without an API key means it is answering. The website can fail while the API answers.
