When ChatGPT fails

ChatGPT is OpenAI's assistant, on chatgpt.com and in the desktop and mobile apps. Incidents can hit logins, conversations, file uploads, voice or image generation separately, and OpenAI reports each of them on its status page.

chatgpt.com answers automated checks with a Cloudflare challenge, so we check three parts of ChatGPT that do answer: the backend of its Android app, where a 401 without a session means it is answering, OpenAI's login service, and the OpenAI API, where a 401 without a key means the same. The ChatGPT website can still fail while all three answer.

How do you check ChatGPT?

We monitor 3 ChatGPT services every minute, in turn from Virginia, Frankfurt and Singapore: ChatGPT app backend (android.chat.openai.com, up on a 401 response), Login (auth.openai.com, up on a successful response) and OpenAI API (api.openai.com, up on a 401 response). When a check fails, other regions check again before that service counts as down. ChatGPT counts as down when all of them are, and as partly down when only some are. chatgpt.com answers automated checks with a Cloudflare challenge, so we check three parts of ChatGPT that do answer: the backend of its Android app, where a 401 without a session means it is answering, OpenAI's login service, and the OpenAI API, where a 401 without a key means the same. The ChatGPT website can still fail while all three answer.

ChatGPT is up here but not working for me. Why?
